Compassion Track

Compassion track will run from August 2021.

The Compassion Track combines regular DTS rhythms with voluntary work. You will get the chance to make a difference in the lives of people who have lost almost everything and now live on the margins of society.

We live in community together while worshipping, praying, going on outreaches and being taught by international teachers.

Warning! This DTS is not for wimps. The work we do is challenging and the schedule will at times be tough. But we believe true discipleship takes place, right there, where you feel stretched.

About the ministries

This spring we have started our homeless ministry. We run a cafe for homeless in the mornings and work together with existing ministries in the city that are involved with offering shelter, food and work.

Schedule

The DTS runs from the beginning of August to the end of June. There are four overseas outreaches during this time: Autumn break, Christmas, Easter and summer break. In addition to overseas outreaches we do local outreaches to make a difference in Oslo.

Breakfast

We typically do weekday mornings together, having breakfast and some corporate prayer time between 7:00 and 8:30. Monday includes a larger morning gathering with the broader YWAM Oslo family, going until 10:00.

Mid day

The main part of the day is for voluntary work in the city, visiting different ministries and receiving teaching related to the voluntary work and the topic compassion.

Dinner

On Monday nights we have a family dinner from 16:30 to 18:00. There’s a small group dinner on Thursdays in the same time frame. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday have dinners where attendance is optional.

Evening

We have our “Bibelkveld” event on Monday evenings from 18:30 to 21:00. Visit bibelkveld.nofor more information. On Thursday evenings in the same time frame we have a teaching for the DTS from one of our many speakers.

Weekend

Weekends are generally free, except for teaching weekends which occur about one weekend each month. These weekend events usually go from 16:00 on Friday to 16:00 on Sunday.

Unless otherwise mentioned, students are generally expected to be at all of the above functions, although there’s flexibility in the morning routines for those who need to be in classes or at work.

Living

DTS students are housed in a small mansion, within walking distance of the city center. We have a beautiful backyard for parties and social gatherings.
